Stylishly Late

Fashion fades, only style remains the same

Yesterday I went with Justo and Gaëtan to an exposition about Yves Saint Laurent, for more info press HERE (Warning: it’s in French).

We had been planning on going for quite a while now, and actually agreed on Friday that we would go on Sunday. Nonetheless, I have sleep issues and ended up going to bed at 6 am Saturday, well, it was more like Sunday, only to wake up 6 hours later with an angry Justo on the phone “Dude, why do you always sleep so much?, we’re already leaving”. Taking 30 minutes more than expected I ended up getting there at 3 pm or so. Only to find my party at the top of an incredible long line (it seems everyone in Paris decided to do the same yesterday), and been able to join them without anyone yelling me nasty stuff (they probably didn’t like that I didn’t make the line, though). After an hour or so waiting under the sun, we could finally go in.

The exposition was fucking beautiful. I just couldn’t believe that I was actually in front of these pieces of history. More so, YSL is particularly special to me. When I was really young, 10 years old or so, I got this book about Fashion History and that’s how I “met” him, and he was through my teens my favorite designer. Through this time it never crossed my mind that someday I would actually have his work 30cm away.

These are the first YSL pieces that I saw in that book:

My look yesterday was my own pantless interpretation of Le Smoking as I’m not really a pants-person and I don’t think that nowadays wearing a pant is a sign of power (nor that wearing a dress or a skirt is a sign of submission yada yada yada).

I just stole these pictures from the exposition website (HERE), where there are pictures of almost the whole exposition.

Through the week I will be uploading them for those of you who won’t be able to go as well as some other ideas that I developed since yesterday.

For the moment I’ll leave you with some video of a young Yves:

Bisous!
